About Dr. Hans-Jürgen Völz:

Dr. Hans-Jürgen Völz is a member of the national management board of DER MITTELSTAND, a member of the board of the support fund for German SMEs and chief economist of the BVMW. He was previously managing director of a business association and a consultant at the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA). The reserve officer is a lecturer at the German Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Hamburg. He wrote his doctoral thesis at the Institute for Theoretical Economics at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. His academic career took him to the University of Glasgow and Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Völz was a member of the advisory board of the Federal Statistical Office and the German representative of the employers' side at the International Labor Organization in Geneva. He has also represented the BVMW on investor protection in free trade agreements at the OECD in Paris. During the coronavirus pandemic, he was in constant contact with the heads of the Federal Ministry of Economics regarding the design of aid programs for companies.

Prior to this, he worked in the banking business for 25 years, most recently as a board member for Corporates & Markets at a Landesbank. He holds an MBA from Cardiff University and completed the Oxford Advanced Management and Leadership Program at Saïd Business School.
