Episode #10 of the Beteiligungsbörse Deutschland Podcast with Prof. Dr. Alexander Bassen

The current episode #10 is all about Prof. Dr. Alexander Bassen and his insights into the importance and implementation of ESG criteria (Environmental, Social, Governance) in the SME sector. The chairman of the governing body of the "Greenhouse Gas Protocol" answers questions from Matthias Wittenburg, Co-Founder of Beteiligungsbörse Deutschland.

Among other things, the discussion will cover the role of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol as a global standard for measuring CO2 emissions. "A really exciting task, because we have to bring together not only the political interests, but also the corporate and social interests, where I have the honor of chairing the board," says Alexander Bassen in an interview.

Mandatory sustainability reporting, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive in Europe, is having an impact on companies. According to Alexander Bassen, these regulations not only offer the opportunity to better manage sustainability risks, but also open up new business opportunities through a strategic focus on sustainability.

Despite the challenges associated with implementing these new reporting requirements, there are a number of opportunities for SMEs to attract investors and increase their competitiveness. Particular emphasis is placed on the importance of ESG criteria for raising capital, both on the equity and debt side. Advisory services and standards such as the German Sustainability Code or EFRAG's voluntary SMI standard are presented as valuable resources for companies that need to navigate this new reporting framework.

A must-attend program for anyone interested in the future of SMEs in a sustainable economic system. It's worth listening!
